to win it convincingly. Her 25.15 and Morgantown's Natasha Trott's 25.55 were the only sub-26
runs in the group. Martinsburg's Mykera Days and Washington's Rhonda Rogombe were under

RunWV's Current Score 9 of 12.
400 Meter Dash
Washington's Devyn Hosby took off at the gun and quickly made up the stagger on everyone line
up outside her. Teammate Rhonda Rogombe also got out well, and the pair were well ahead of
the field at the half-way mark. Down the stretch, Hosby had to fend off Rogombe for the win, and
the teammates were the only ones to come in under 58. John Marshall's Ashley Haught and
Woodrow Wilson's Lashonda McDowell also came in under 59 with McDowell pulling her 4th place
finish from the 1st heat.
RunWV's Current Score: 13 of 18.
800 Meter Run
Winfield's Barkley Castro led from the gun with an aggressive start that saw her turn the first
lap in 64 seconds. She was 2 seconds up on the field at the 400 meter mark. On lap 2, Castro was
never challenged as her 2:17.57 won by nearly 3 seconds. John Marshall's Erica Haught used a
strong kick in the last 130 meters to move from 4th to 2nd. Haught, Morgantown's Allison Lynch,
and University's Sydney Dotson were all under 2:22. The top 6 were under 2:23. No one else
was under 2:26. Castro's 2:17.57 is Tied for the 10th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet
Performance.
RunWV's Current Score: 19 of 24.
1600 Meter Run
University's Amelia Paladino took the lead before the 200 Meter Mark and never relinquished it.
She toured the first lap in 1:12. Capital's Peyton Panger was right on her heels. At 1:13 was
Hurricane's Emily Schwendiman and Point Pleasant's Andrea Porter. Jefferson's Abby
Colbert was in 5th at 1:14 with Hurricane's Natalie Schwendiman close behind. Paladino
stretched her lead on the 2nd lap, coming through in 2:28. Panger remained in 2nd at 2:31.
Emily Schwendiman remained in 3rd at 2:33 with Porter and Morgantown's Brynn Harshbarger just
a stride behind. Preston's Kaitlyn Workman had moved into 6th at 2:35. On lap 3, Paladino
removed all doubt as she stretched her lead to 7 seconds, coming through in 3:45. Harshbarger
continued her steady churn forward into 2nd place at 3:52. Schwendiman was less than a stride behind
also at 3:52. Panger was in 4th at 3:54. Workman was into 5th at 3:57. Porter was clinging to 6th
at 3:58, just ahead of the resurgent Colbert. On the final lap, Paladino continued to press her
advantage, pulling away to win by over 9 seconds and crack the 5:00 barrier. Her 4:59.43 is the
4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance.
Harshbarger continued to pull away in 2nd to come in at 5:08.88. Panger and Colbert
had quite a race to the finish with Panger taking 3rd by just 0.03. Colbert moved up from 7th to
4th on the lap. Workman edged Schwendiman by 0.09 for 5th. The top 6 were all 5:13 or better. Two
others were under 5:20.
RunWV's Current Score: 25 of 30.
3200 Meter Run
University's Amelia Paladino grabbed the lead early and never gave it back. She toured the
first lap in 1:13, trailed closely by Jefferson's Abby Colbert. Morgantown's Brynn
Harshbarber and Capital's Peyton Panger were a second back, nearly side-by-side. I really
am not sure who was in 5th. It might be Winfield's Rachel Englund. Preston's Kaitlyn
Workman was running 6th. On lap 2, Paladino continued to lead at 2:33. Harshbarger had taken
control of 2nd at 2:35. Colbert and Panger were at 2:36. Woodrow Wilson's Emily Fedders
had moved into 5th at 2:37 with Workman holding 6th at the same time. On lap 3, Paladino continued
to edge away, moving her lead to 3 seconds, coming through in 3:54 to Harshbarger's 3:57. A large
pack remained fighting for 3rd position. Colbert was holding that 3rd spot. Morgantown's Sydney
Pineault had moved into the 4th position. Panger was in 5th, and Fedders was in 6th with that
group all crossing between 4:00 and 4:02. At the mile mark, Paladino had lengthened her lead to
5 seconds, crossing at 5:17. Harshbarger was in firm control of 2nd at 5:22. There were still 5
runners battling for the 3rd spot. Colbert and Pineault were at the front of that pack. Panger
remained 5th and Fedders remained in 6th. Workman was hanging on but starting to lose contact. On
lap 5, Paladino stretched the lead even further, coming through in 6:41. Harshbarger maintained the
gap on the field, coming through in 6:48. The pack fighting for 3rd held their positions; Colbert,
Pineault, Panger, Fedders all within 1 second of each other, but 7 seconds behind Harshbarger.
Workman had dropped to 3 seconds behind. On lap 6, Paladino took the lead to double digits. She came
through in 8:05. Harshbarger crossed in 8:16, and her lead over the pack had started to shorten.
The chase pack had shrunk to 3, though. Colbert, Pineault, and Panger were still together and had
moved to within 6 seconds of Harshbarger. Workman had moved around Fedders back into 6th, 4 seconds
behind the trio in front of them. On lap 7, Paladino picked it up a notch, dropping from 1:24's the
prior 2 laps to a 1:20 lap. Her lead ballooned to 20 seconds, coming through in 9:25. Harshbarger
was still in 2nd at 9:45. Colbert and Pineault crossed in 9:50 with Panger at 9:51. Fedders had
moved back around Workman into 6th. On the final lap, Paladino powered away to a 75 for a final
time of 10:40.27 and a New State Meet Record. That time also stands as the 2nd Best All-Time
State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Peformance. Colbert
and Pineault raced each other so hard on the last lap that they made up the gap on Harshbarger before
they even hit the 200 meter mark. Colbert sped away from Pineault down the stretch to cross in
11:03.05 which stands as the 10th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 6th Best
All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Pineault scored an 11:05.58 which is the 7th Best
All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Panger made up the gap on Harshbarger as well to move
into 4th at 11:11.30. Harshbarger held onto 5th with an 11:13.34. Fedders pulled away from Workman
to grab 6th at 11:16.15. So, 6 were under 11:17. 7 were under 11:30. 11 were at 11:45 or better.
RunWV's Current Score: 30 of 36.

away in the final 40 meters. Rogombe turned a 58.0 leg. Greenbrier East's unit of Ashley
